Senior Legal Counsel Carbon Finance

As the Vice President Senior Legal Counsel you will be responsible for:
Advising: Providing counsel and opinion on legal aspects of transactions in carbon finance and equity or project finance in environmental and clean tech industries.
Documentation: Supporting the deal team with the drafting of all legal documentation required for undertaking carbon finance transactions including emission reduction purchase agreements (ERPAs), term sheets and commercial contracts with business partners.
Process management: Overseeing and managing all legal aspects of transactions managed by the China investment team related to carbon finance, and equity and project finance. Specifically, this includes:
- managing and ensuring deal teams have access to all necessary legal resources
- overseeing monitoring and managing legal deliverables on all transactions
- managing and instructing outside legal counsel on transactions
- ensuring deal teams follow and comply with established Legal Resource Procedures
Negotiation / DD: Participate in deal negotiations and assist with legal due diligence
Key competencies and qualifications include:
- Law degree with post-qualification experience in contract, capital markets, investments, or corporate fields
- Prior experience in advising clients on China affairs
- Experience in dealing with international organisations
- Experience in private equity/project finance structures is strongly advantageous
- Candidates with hands-on experience in drafting and negotiating carbon finance (carbon emission trading) related contracts
- Fluency in both English and Chinese
