Energy and Carbon Design Manager
The environment and sustainability team of a top FTSE company, regarded as a leader in its field, is developing and investing in specialist guidance and environmental leadership to deliver energy and carbon management procedures and policy to reduce the impact of the company's carbon footprint, through innovation and green alternatives.
The main aim of this role is to provide an expert resource in terms of all matters related to environmental design relating to energy & carbon dioxide and identifying solutions which mitigate risk.
The successful manager will take a pro-active approach in:
- Developing strong relationships with all business groups to drive and deliver sustainability improvements
- Delivering enhancement in environmental efficiency of the portfolio and operations, including property, (engineering, facilities, maintenance), IT solutions and projects,
- Evaluating and benchmarking solutions and initiatives,
- Setting targets for reduction of the key impacts (both positive and negative),
- Establishing an evaluation mechanism for initiatives and projects which can be incorporated into the business case assessment process.
You will require experience in facilities management and maintenance, energy and carbon management and M&E and/or building management. You will have a strong understanding of business strategy, planning & management, and change management,
A broad understanding of technical specifications, including specialist equipment and services e.g. BMS, CHP, geothermal heating etc is also required, as is detailed knowledge of environmental and sustainable design innovation, energy management and carbon emissions reduction strategies.
You will have strong project management skills and deliver projects to customer requirements levels and within cost restraints.
You will hold a Higher degree in a specialist area and be professionally qualified Chartered status, with an environmental and/or other recognised professional institution. Strong interpersonal and organisational skills are a requisite, as is the ability to work to tight deadlines and manage a number of conflicting and frequently changing priorities.
You must have strong verbal and written communication and editorial skills.
International experience in property design, management and maintenance desirable.
